Decatur Republican June 20, 1889 The Late Mrs. Dr. Connelly Nancy Lewis Connelly, wife of Dr. J.L. Connelly, who died Friday morning, June 7 at ll oclock at her home in Harristown, ILL was born in Paris, Bourbon County, Ky May 8, 1938. She was taken ill three months ago and was confined to her bed just nine weeks ago the day she died.Through all those long weeks she was a great though patient suffer and everything loving hands and medical skill could do to restore her health was done. Her maiden name was Nancy Lewis Bedford. She came to this state in 1870 and in 1872 she was united in marriage to Dr. J.L.Connelly. She united with the Christian Church at the age of 18 and for 36 years until the close of her earthly existence lived a faithful, devoted Christian life.There were born to Dr. and Mrs. Connelly, six children, two of who preceded their mother to the spirit land. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and leaves a wide circle of friends. She was a noble womanly woman and her death will be deeply mourned. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon June 9 at the Christian Church in Harristown in the presence of at least 300 people and was conducted by the pastor, Rev.J.C. Ogle. She is now at rest from her labors while her works will follow her.
