James C. Roberson, 79, of St. Marys, died Monday, May 18, 2020, at Southeast Georgia Health System of Camden, following a sudden illness.

He was born in Jesup to the late Ira Ward Roberson and Tula Morgan Roberson and made St. Marys his home for most of his life. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army and was retired from Gillman Paper Company as a chemical analyst. He was a member of First Baptist Church of St. Marys and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved a good family fish fry, which he held frequently and attended the Hardees Breakfast Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lyndall Lightsey.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Carolyn Roberson, St. Marys; two children, Debbie DiNello and husband Michael, St. Marys and Adorne Boeckel and husband Jamie, Kingsland; five grandchildren, Ashley Chiszar and husband Kevin, Corey DiNello and wife Jade, Abby Smith and husband Scott, Tyler Boeckel and Jackson Boeckel and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 21, at the Lake Chapel Cemetery in Appling County near Patterson with the Rev. Vernon Dillingham officiating.

In lieu of the flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church of St. Marys Building Fund, 102 W. Weed St., St. Marys, GA, 31558.
