Jack Warren Rowland, 88, of Benton died Monday, June 22, 2009.

He was born Dec. 6, 1920, in Little Rock.

Mr. Rowland worked 50 years for Safeway Stores in Oklahoma, Blytheville and Little Rock. He was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran, having served in the European operations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thad and Bernie Rowland; five brothers, Harold, Fred, Rufus, James and Joe Rowland; and two sisters, Mary Louise Ranson and Emma Bell.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mittie Garner Rowland of Benton; a daughter, Deborah Rowland Trussell and husband Gale of Alexandria, La.; two sons, Ron Rowland and wife Diane of Mandeville, La., and Randy Rowland and wife Vicki of Hot Springs; a sister, Bernice Gwanty of Vilonia; and six grandchildren, Eric Spencer, Melissa Spencer, Cindy Rowland, Jeff Rowland, Dustin Dillard and Nick Dillard.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Spring Creek Baptist Church. Burial will be in Forest HIlls Cemetery. The Rev. Terry Parrish will be officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ashby Funeral Home.
