Born March 18, 1917 in Salt Lake City, Utah, son of James Edward and Martha Elizabeth Fowles Tomlin.
He graduated from West High School and then served in the US Army Air Force during World War II.
Married Maurine Gunn August 18, 1941 in the Salt Lake Temple; she preceded him in death March 23, 2005.
Retired from Kennecott Copper Corp. He was an avid gardener and shared the joy of his flowers with many.
Survived by sons: Bishop Mark D. (Jean) Smith, Salt Lake City; Kenneth O. (Sharleen) Tomlin, Spring, TX; Brent Edward (Julie) Tomlin, West Bountiful; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.
Also preceded in death by parents; and siblings.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 7, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at the Hunter 18th Ward, 3737 South 5600 West. A viewing will be held Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Thursday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your favorite Cancer Charity.
