RACINE - Edith M. 'Edie' Andersen, 76, passed away Monday, June 22, 2009, at her residence. Edie was born in Racine July 15, 1932, daughter of the late Arthur and Helen M. (nee: Graham) Andersen. Edie was a graduate of Washington Park High School "Class of 1950." She received her Bachelor Degree in teaching from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee and taught seventh and eighth grades at Burdick School, Milwaukee for 35 years. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and belonged to the United Methodist Women. Edie was also a member of the Racine Garden Club and Local BPW Chapter. She enjoyed reading, needlework, and traveling, especially to Denmark and Holland. Above all, Edie was a generous and loving person, who spent her entire life caring for others. She will be deeply missed. Survivors include her cousins, Don (Joyce) Andersen and family of Delavan, Bette (Ted) Lozano and family of Milwaukee, Barbara (Charles) Hellesen and family of Racine, Dorothy Ralph and family of Alabama; her dear friends, Peter and Carol Feest and family of Racine; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William 'Larry' Andersen; and her good friend, Marilyn Ulrich. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 745 Main Street, Thursday, June 25, 2009, 11 a.m. with Rev. Brad Van Fossen officiating. Interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
