Alfred C. Hawkins, Sr., 84, went to be with his Lord Wednesday, February 1, 2006
from the VA Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation is 12:30-2 p.m. today at
Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Jackson. Services are 2 p.m. today at the
funeral home chapel with burial in Lakewood South.

Mr. Hawkins was born July 19, 1921 in Wesson, MS but later moved to Jackson
where he was a longtime resident. He joined the U.S. Army where he served during
WWII and the Korean War. Mr. Hawkins was employed for several years with Jackson
Packing Co. where he was best known by his co-workers for the spiritual guidance
he gave. He was a member of the Salvation Army Jackson Corp. where he served as
a Sunday School Teacher and Chaplin.

Mr. Hawkins is survived by: his wife of 59 years, Mary W. Hawkins of Jackson;
son, Cecil Hawkins and wife Jean of Jackson; brother, Walter Hawkins of South
Carolina; sister, Louise Gilmer of Jackson; grandchildren, Jason Jones,
Christopher Hawkins and Megan Hawkins; great grandson, Dylan Hawkins; and
several nieces and nephews.
