Mrs. Louise Gilmer, age 93, passed away Tuesday January 15, 2013 at the Gold City Convalescent Center in Dahlonega, GA.

Mrs. Gilmer was born in Pelahatchie, Mississippi April 20, 1919. She lived most of her life in Jackson, Mississippi before moving to Dahlonega in July of 2008 to live with her daughter. She worked for the State of Mississippi for many years.

She was the daughter of the late Leo and Jesse Hamilton Hawkins and was also preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Lee Gilmer; sister, Jesse Hawkins; and brother, Alfred Hawkins.

Mrs. Gilmer is survived by daughter, Sandra, and son-in-law, Ashton Thompson, Dahlonega, GA. Two grandchildren, Denise Machell (Michael) and Ashton Thompson JR (Liesl); four great-grandchildren, and a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Gilmer are scheduled for 11 AM Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Pearl, MS.

Interment will follow in the Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Jackson, MS.

The family will receive friends at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl, MS on Friday from 9 AM until 11 AM.

Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega and Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home of Pearl, MS are in charge of the arrangements.
