A graveside service for Chancy H. McCartney, 79, of Longdale, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009, in Cimarron Valley Cemetery. L.D. Choate and Steve Driskill will officiate. Arrangements are by Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton.

He was born Dec. 21, 1929, in Hitchcock to John Palmer and Leslie Ann Roberts McCartney and died Saturday, June 13, 2009.

He married Etheleen Davis Sept. 5, 1952, in Hennessey. He served in the military from 1950 to 1953, when he was honorably discharged. He lived in Perryton, Texas, for many years and worked for Schafer Machine as a machinist until retiring and moving to Canton Lake in 1993.

Surviving are his wife, Etheleen, of the home; one son, Keith McCartney of Hennessey; one sister, Olive Schroeder of San Antonio; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, seven brothers, six sisters and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love of Enid.
