Mary's parents, Abednego Walden and Nancy Stanford, as well as her paternal grandparents, Joseph and Nancy Walden, were all natives of Virginia. Mary was born in Woodford County, Kentucky. Like many other Kentucky settlers in the years between 1827 and 1835, her family then moved to southern Indiana.

She married Abraham Wagaman on 25 May 1834 in Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana, where their first child, James, was born in 1835. Shortly after his birth, the Wagamans set off for Randolph County, Missouri with some of Mary's family.

Mary and Abraham had 3 more children in Randolph County before moving to Carroll County, Missouri in 1846. The last of their 5 children was born there. A blacksmith by trade, Abraham established a farm in Hurricane Township.

In the years after Abraham's 1856 death, 2 of the Wagaman sons fought in the Civil War. James Jefferson served from 1862-1863 with the 35th Regiment of the Missouri Militia in Company D. Thomas Harrison served in the army from 1862-1863 with the 35th Regiment, Company D and also in the 4th Regiment, Company E.

In 1882, Mary and her bachelor son, Tom, moved to Lamar in Barton County, Missouri. She passed away there in 1906 at the age of 91 years, 6 months and 15 days.

Children: 3 sons, 2 daughters.

Mother of:
James Jefferson Wagaman
