John Pinder came to Key West with his mother and six siblings in September 1865.
He is shown as a sailor in the 1880 census and a sponger in the 1900 census. Pinder purchased 40 acres described as the NW Qtr of the SW Qtr of Section 21, Township 26S, Range 16E, from the State of Florida Internal Improvement Fund on May 16, 1881.
He married Virginia M. Brown (1856-1899) on July 28, 1878, in Hernando County. Virginia was the daughter of John Allen Brown q.v.
