The many friends of Mr. Solomon Hershey were shocked and deeply grieved to hear of his death which occurred Oct. 8, 1901. Although Mr. Hershey had been an invalid for some time previous to his death, he passed away suddenly and almost unexpectedly. He was born at Sporting Hill, Lancaster county, Pa. When he was 23 years of age he became a resident of Clarence Center NY and the following 42 years were spent in that vicinity, where he was well known and highly respected. For the past five years Mr. Hershey had lived in Buffalo, where those who were fortunate enough to know him profited by his qualities of sterling worth.
Mr. Hershey was one of a family of ten children, three of whom still survive. He also leaves a widow and three children-Charles, Warren and Clarence, to mourn their loss. The interment was at Clarence Center, where three of Mr Hershey's children are buried. Rev. H. Wyse Jones of Cedar Street Baptist church, Buffalo, officiated, assisted by Rev.
