Sue Phillips Routh

Mrs. Routh , 90, of Bennett NC died on January 5, 2007, at Liberty Care and Rehabilitation of Charlotte. Born October 16, 1916 to George M. and Ella Jane Tally Phillips , Sue was the middle child of nine and always delighted in her large family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 52 years Wayne Ernest Routh, daughter Jerre Sue Lett, three sisters and three brothers.

Survivors are daughter, Jane Torbet (James) of Charlotte; grandson, Ralph Wayne Lett (Beth) of Huntersville; granddaughter, Marybeth Torbet Cornwell(Robert) of Davidson; son-in-law, Ralph D. Lett of West End; sister, LucyPugh of Bennett; and brother, Daniel Phillips , also of Bennett.

Sue enjoyed a variety of activities including church choir, teaching Sunday School, cooking, reading, travel, still life painting, and serving as a reading tutor. She was a former member of the UDC Chapter 259. Sue was known for her quick smile and her sense of style.

The service and reception to celebrate Sue 's life will be held at Bennett Baptist Church at 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 7. Viewing is at the church one hour prior to the service. Guests are invited to wear something red and/or a scarf in Sue 's honor.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bennett Baptist Church Cemetery Care Fund, PO Box 91, Bennett, NC 27208, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.

Sue and her family appreciated the kindness and love shown by the third floor staff at Liberty Care with special thanks to Joyce Earnhardt, Fran Wagner, Martha Moore, Tracey Young, Emmie Faison, Carrie Kirkpatrick, and the Hospice team.
