Newton L Trull was the son of Griffin Henry & Sarah Shepherd Trull. He married Emma Kate Cook 8 Aug 1879 in Lamar Co., AL, the younger sister of Annie Cook Trull who was married to Newton's brother Thomas Trull. Newton was a farmer during the first years of his marriage but in the late 1890's he began to dabble in politics and he served as Justice of the peace in Lamar Co., and later became a real estate agent.

Newton Trull was the youngest child of Griffin and Sarah Trull. During Newton's first years the Trull family lived in the vicinity of Jacob Shepherd (Sarah Trull's brother) and his young family.

Newton and Kate had two daughters, Vera and Nola TRULL. In addition to raising their daughters, Newton and Kate helped raise the orphaned children of their siblings Annie COOK and Thomas TRULL and also their granddaughter Maxine WASSER after their widowed daughter Vera died at a young age. For many years, Newton and Kate were active in the Meadow Branch Baptist church. Newton even served as secretary of the church for a while. However, Newton and Kate moved their letters to the Baptist church in Kennedy. When they died, they were buried in the Kennedy cemetery, not at Meadow Branch where many of the other Trull family members are buried.
