Emily M. Priest, 95, a long time Klamath Falls resident, died Jan. 14, 1998 in Newberg.

Mrs. Priest was born to William and Clara (Berglund) Horsham in Madison, Neb. She was raised and attended schools there, and later attended college in Chadron, Neb., and became a teacher.

She taught in rural Nebraska schools for three years. Later in Rapid City she taught fifth grade during the year President Coolidge had the summer White House there.

In 1940, she married Lawrence Priest and became a resident of Klamath Falls. She taught at a number of schools while she lived here, including Pelican, Mills and Conger Elementary Schools. She retired in 1962.

Among her interests were traveling, painting china, tatting and other kinds of handwork. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, National Educational Association, and the Art and Needlework Club.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Elanore Priest of Silverton; stepson, Norman Priest of Silverton; stepson, Norman Priest of Arizona; step-grandchildren, George Priest of Sherwood, Shirley Priest of Otis, Ruth Motschenbacher of Salem, Gary Cne and John Bellon of klamath Falls, Wesley Cone of Irrigon; and a nephew and a grandniece.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister and her parents.
