Maxine L. Thompson
Maxine L. THOMPSON, 71, of 229 W. Ninth St., died at 4:25 a.m. today at Woodlawn Hospital.
She was born March 11, 1917 in Macy to Charles and Goldie SEE AMBLER. She lived her entire life in this community. On Dec. 24, 1940 in Rochester, she married Ralph A. THOMPSON, who died April 29, 1981. She had been a nurse for the late Dr. E.V. HERENDEEN and later was director of nursing at Canterbury Manor Nursing Home, retiring in 1981. She was a graduate of City Hospital (now Wishard Hospital), Indianapolis.
Surviving are a son, Michael [THOMPSON], and a granddaughter, Penni [THOMPSON], both of Rochester; two sisters, Mrs. M.E. (Nila) [CARRUTHERS], Middletown, Ohio, and Mrs John (Mary) SHIPLEY, Greenville, Miss., and a brother, James AMBLER, Sevierville, Tenn. She was preceded in death by a son, Tommy [THOMPSON] on May 14, 1984, and a sister Juanita DeLON, in 1986.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with Father Harold E. WELLER officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and after 9 a.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to the Manitou Training Center.
