72, of Springfield died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday at Memorial
Medical Center. He was born in DeSoto, Mo., May 19, 1917, the son of Robert E. and Mary Cain Nolan. He married Mary Agnes McGrath in 1940, and she died in 1983. Also preceding him in death were one daughter, Susan Nolan, in 1955; parents; two brothers, Thomas and Leo Nolan; and three sisters, Mrs. Esther Shea, Miss Kathryn Nolan and Miss Loretta M. Nolan.
Mr. Nolan had been a resident of Springfield most of his life, and was a member of St. Joseph Church and Knights of Columbus Council 364. He was a veteran of World War II. For 33 years, Mr. Nolan was employed by the U.S. Post Office, retiring in 1973 as a customer relations officer.
Surviving are one son, Timothy F. Nolan of Springfield; two grandchildren; two sisters, Miss Marie E. Nolan of Springfield and Mrs. George (Ruth) Wilcockson of Decatur; one brother, John M. Nolan of Springfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Mass:St. Joseph Church, the Rev. Kenneth Yarno, CSV, officiating. Burial: Calvary Cemetery.
