LYNDHURST-The Rev. B. Frank Hatter, 91, died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday in the home of his daughter Mrs. Ruth Wolfe, in Pulaski.
Mr. Hatter was born in Rockbridge County on August 12, 1891, a son of the late Alonza Christopher and Elizabeth Wilks Lotts Hatter.
He was a retired minister of Mountain View Mennonite Church in Sherando and a member of Mountain View Church.
Mr. Hatter had served in the ministry for more than 50 years and also owned and operated his own farm in Lyndhurst near Love.
Mr. Hatter married Lottie Leona Campbell Hatter on Jan. 28, 1914. She preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 1975.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mark W. (Ruth) Wolfe of Pulaski and Mrs. G. Austin (Mattie) Demastus of Lyndhurst; two sons, Warren Austin Hatter and S. Reginald Hatter, both of Lyndhurst; one foster son, Chester C. Campbell of Lyndhurst; one sister, Mrs. Jessie Sensabaugh of Lynchburg; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons, William Winfred Hatter and Hunter Franklin Hatter, who were killed while serving with the U. S. Marines in World War II.
Also one foster son, Dennis C. Campbell who died June 18, 1944.
A service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Mountain View Mennonite Church, conducted by the Revs. Stanley Shirk, Roy D. Kiser and Charles C. Ramsey. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Active pallbearers will be Cleveland Campbell, William Hatter, Daniel Hatter, Dean Hatter, Jerry Demastus, and Gary Demastus.
