Maggie must have been a resilient, strong woman - here is some of her story. Maggie was the oldest of six children born to Elijah David Harper and Frances (Bryant) Harper in June 1871. Per the 1880 census, she (age 9) & three siblings (born as of 1880) are living in Telfair County. Georgia. On 21 Sep 1890, she marries John Thomas per record from the Bibb County Marriage Book, 1885-1891. Little is known about John Thomas including his birth, death and burial information. On July 23, 1899, Maggie's mother, Frances (Bryant) Harper, passes away and interestingly is buried in Houston County; Maggie is 29. Per the June 1900 US federal census, Maggie is a widow, a mother of three living children (Ida J., Willie D. & Johnnie M.) and three deceased children. Maggie's family is living with her widowed father, Elijah David Harper in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia. Per all censuses between 1900 and 1938, Maggie lives the rest of her life in Macon, Georgia. On February 9, 1902, Maggie shares another child with the Lord - Willie David, age 3 who is buried in Cedar Ridge 2F10/2F11. On March 14, 1904, Maggie marries Taylor J. Wilson. Taylor's sister Mary has been married to Maggie's brother William since 1898. Taylor and Maggie have three children together (Charlie, Carl & Paul). Maggie is widowed a second time when Taylor passes away in 1917; he is buried in Cedar Ridge 2F10/2F11. Maggie shares another child, her daughter Johnnie Mae Thomas, with the Lord in 1924; she is in Cedar Ridge 2F10/2F11. Maggie's father passes away in 1928; he is in Cedar Ridge 2F10/2F11; Maggie is 57. Maggie shares one more child, Carl, with the Lord in 1931; he is in Cedar Ridge 2F10/2F11. Maggie passes away at the age of 66 in 1938; She was the mother of at least 9 children and at least 14 grandchildren. I am so thankful to my grandmother (Anna Lois "Lois" (Harper) Fox) for saving her picture and telling me about her! LFC, 03 Feb 2013.
