Marie Monica, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on June 10, 2009 at the age of 71.


Marie was born on October 26, 1937 in El Paso, Texas, the second daughter of Ramon and Rosalia Ramirez.


She graduated from St. Josephs Academy in 1955 in El Paso. She married and eventually moved to Commerce, California.


She worked in the Commerce Library system for 23 years and most recently spent 4 years working part-time at the Cabazon Library. She loved her family and touched so many peoples hearts that her network of friends extends around the world. Her hobbies included reading, sewing, traveling, and country line-dancing.


She is survived by her husband Robert Monica, her children from her first marriage; Louis Vasquez, James Vasquez (Rosemarie), and daughter Yvonne Blake (Gary), her sisters Bertha Nyboer (Dale), Mary Lou Malijen (Gilbert) and Beatriz Sarmiento (Joe) and brother, Tony Prieto (Tomasa). Her grandchildren are Raymond, Robert, and Alison Blake.


A visitation and Holy Rosary will be held on June 17, 2009, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Arlington Mortuary in Riverside. Mass will be held at St Thomas Catholic Church in Riverside on June 19, 2009 at 9:00 a.m., with Burial at Riverside National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.
