Funeral services for Edgar Leonard Mason were held on Saturday, Dec, 22, at 10 a.m. at the Swanson Funeral Home in Elkhorn, with graveside services conducted at 2:30 p.m. at the Westlawn Memorial Park in Grand Island. The Rev. Walt Marshall officiated.
Mason was born Aug. 1, 1891, at Sargent, NE. His mother died in childbirth, and he was raised by an uncle and aunt, Robert and Maude Keyes.
Edgar was married to Georgia V Orvis on July 3, 1910 at Sargent. To this union were born eight children –Violet, Alberta, Eva, Albert, Harold, Robert, Ellen, and James.
Edgar and Georgia celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1960.
After Georgia's death, Edgar was married to Elsie Dawson Fisher, July 31, 1961, at Omaha. They made their home in Omaha.
Edgar had farmed throughout Nebraska, and after retirement from farming, he worked at a plant near Grand Island.
He died Dec 20 at an Omaha hospital at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgia, two daughters, Alberta and Eva, and a son, Robert.
Survivors include his widow Elsie of Omaha; two daughters, Violet Mason of Omaha and Ellen (Mrs. Robert Zuerlein) of Kearney; four sons, Albert of Kearney, Harold of Omaha, James of Sioux City, Iowa and Charles Fisher of Omaha; 21 grand-children and numerous great-grandchildren and other distant relatives and friends.
The Swanson Funeral Home of Elkhorn was in charge of the arrangements.

There are errors in this obituary. Edgar's mother did not die in childbirth and he was 3 years old when he went to live with his uncle, Robert Newman Keyes. There are court documents stating this. (per Find-A-Grave contributor #47073167)
