The funeral and internment for Chester E. Larson, 62, was held at Fir Lane Memorial Park, Spanaway, Wash., Jan. 16. Mr. Larson died Jan. 8 at Houston, Texas.
Born July 4, 1921, Chester grew up west of Washburn, the son of Louis and Hattie(Ecklund) Larson.
As a young person, he helped out on several farms before going to Montana, where he worked until enlisting in the Service during World War II. He had been awarded two Purple Hearts.
Mr. Larson returned to Washburn after the war and stayed with his sisters for a while before going West. He lived in Washington state since that time.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a motel manager.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Marie, two sons, Lowell, Federal Way, and David, Alaska; four daughters, Patricia, Renton, Theresa, Melissa and Leanndrea, all at home, two sisters Adeline Kost, Washburn, Irene Reimers, Bismarck, one brother, Walter, Paducah, Ky.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers and three sisters, one brother and one sister dying in infancy.
Besides his immediate family, he left many friends among the elderly whom he cared for. One elderly man was living at his home at the time of Chester's death. Through the years, Chester also cared for several children, taking them in when they needed help.
