John Miller was my great-uncle and served in the military (WWII) from September 4, 1916 to October 25, 1922. He, first married Mary Maddox. They had one daughter and one son as follows: Dorothy Lillian Miller, born 5/3/1924 in Fulton County, GA. and Harold Payne Miller born 3/20/1926, also in Fulton County, GA. John & Mary divorced. Then on 9/2/1930, John married Maria Anna "Marie" Pape who was German born. John was employed as a guard at Leavenworth, Kansas in 1932. A son, Walter John Miller was born in 1934. In May of 1943, John, Marie & Walter lived in Excelsior Springs, Missouri but sometime later in the year, moved to Livermore, California. John and Marie were living in Pinellas County, Florida when Uncle John passed away in 1970. He was cremated and his remains thrown to sea as he requested. I have loving memories of them. Aunt Marie passed away in September of 1980 in Germany and her request was the same; to be cremated and her remains thrown to sea as well. My mother received a call from Walter at that time.
