Bill served during the Korean War in 1952 and 1953. He was employed at Katy Railroad and then Union Pacific Railroad for 31 years combined. Bill and Sherry (Campbell) Sterling have been together since 1973. He loved his Lord and Savior and wanted to talk about nothing more than that. Whoever came around would listen because Bill had a grace for that. He loved fishing and gardening. He always gave the extra away because he believed it was better to give than to receive.
Bill was preceded in death by his dad, Ted Applegate; brother, T.D. Applegate; sister, Ruby Battenfield and granddaughter, Rachael Goodson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Fosters' Ivory Chapel with. Interment will follow in Agnew Cemetery, Elm Grove. Funeral service arrangements are under the direction of Foster-Petering Funeral Home.
