Isabella Elizabeth Laughlin was the only daughter of Hugh Laughlin and his wife Margaret Wood. She was also known as "Elizabeth Isabella Laughlin". She married twenty tree year old Nathan Isaac York when she was seventeen years old in Randolph County, North Carolina on 20 Jan 1816. Her paternal first cousin William Laughlin was the bondsman for her wedding.
