Nathan Isaac YORK was the first child of six children born to Isaac Henry YORK (1766 NC - 1806 NC) and his wife Eleanor ALDRIDGE (1769 NC - 1849 NC). Nathan was only thirteen when his father was tragically killed in 1806 by a copperhead snake. Suddenly Nathan was faced with the responsibility with his widowed mother and siblings as the primary caretaker of their farm for the next 12 years.

Apparently Nathan meet a strong attractive young lady, Isabella Elizabeth Laughlin at their Marlboro Friends Meeting church who had lost her father at age three as the only daughter of Hugh LAUGHLIN and his wife Margaret WOOD. Most likely these two young people had developed very resilient and spirited characteristics in their similar home life with extraordinary responsibilities. No doubt they were both very strong independent personalities.

Nathan Isaac YORK at age twenty three married Isabella Elizabeth LAUGHLIN when she was seventeen years old in Randolph County, North Carolina on 20 Jan 1816. Her paternal first cousin William LAUGHLIN was their bondsman for their wedding.

Nathan Isaac YORK and Isabella Elizabeth LAUGHLIN were parents to at least seven independent children:

1. Aaron YORKE I, b. 1817 NC, d. 1881 NC... who struck out to Cabarrus County, North Carolina to become a very successful young business man and changed his surname to YORKE.
2. Sylvania "Vanie" YORK, b. 1819 NC, d. 1881 NC.... who married Emberson LINEBERRY and resided with their family in Randolph County, North Carolina.
3. Isaac YORK, b. 1821 NC, d. 1887 IL...who pioneered into Edgar County, Illinois to become a successful farmer in a newly formed state.
4. Eliza YORK, b. 1823 NC, d.1893 NC...who lived a some what mysterious life at home as a single mother with her parents with four children and no records of a husband who apparently never married.
5. Gilbert Andrew YORK, b. 1827 NC, d. 1855 IA...who pioneered to Clinton County, Illinois; married there and then migrated to Jefferson County, Iowa where he died at the young age of 28.
6. Maniff YORK, b. 1829 NC, d. aft 1850 NC... who was a miller living with his parents in the 1850 census and then disappears.
7. Margaret Elizabeth YORK, b.1832 NC, d. April 1850 NC... who married at age 17 to Samuel PUGH Sr. and died in childbirth at age 18 per the 1850 Mortality Schedule with delivery of Samuel PUGH, Jr who also died in April 1850.
