GARY LEE KEMPTON
1952- 2009

Gary Lee Kempton passed away unexpectedly from a cardiac event June 6, 2009 at his home in Navarre, Florida. He was 56.
Gary was born December 24, 1952 in Dayton, Ohio. Most of his young adulthood was spent in Satellite Beach, Florida where his father, Norman P. Kempton was a mechanical engineer at the Cape Canaveral space center.
He graduated from Satellite High School and moved to Tallahassee to attend Florida State University in 1972 where he obtained a Bachelors Degree in Anthropology.
An entrepreneur, in the truest sense of the word, Gary opened his first business, German Auto Service in Tallahassee soon after his graduation from FSU in 1975. In 1977 he began shifting the focus of his business to specialize in the restoration of vintage Porsches. In 1980 he moved the company to its present location in Crawfordville, Florida.
Gary along with a hard working team of loyal employees grew GK Restorations, Co. to become a world-class restoration facility winning many awards in national automobile events.
He was a long standing member in the Porsche Club of America and the 356 Registry. His expertise in these cars
made him highly admired and he was often sought after to be a judge for many car club and Concours events.
Gary's restoration work can be found in the private hands of many collectors around the world including members of the Porsche family and in the Porsche Factory Museum located in Stuttgart, Germany.
He was known for his fairness, honesty and generosity in his business endeavors. He was an inspiration and very loved by his family and close friends.
