Mr.Kenny R. Mitchell, born January 1, 1949, was the first born of seven children to John and Dorothy Mitchell. He departed this life on October 5, 1989 at VAMC, Durham, NC.
Kenny was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He attended Mary Bethune High School. After several years of military service, Kenny lived in NYC, where he worked at Greyhound Bus Company. In 1982, he returned to South Boston and worked for Daystrom Furniture. He is survived by a son, Shawn Mitchell; parents, John and Dorothy Mitchell, of the home; sisters, Audrey Mitchell, Dorothy Grier, Jocelyn Mitchell, and Joyce Mitchell of NC; two brothers, Doyle and Darryle of VA. Also a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law, nieces, nephews and aunts.
