He received a degree in Animal Husbandry from Iowas State in
1915 and spent a year at Langwater Dairy Farms in Massachusetts. He was an occasional contributor for farm journals and an active operator of his farm 3 1/2 miles east of Osage for 30 years.
He was one of the organizers and early Presidents of the Mitchell County Farm Bureau.
His consistent interst in education led him to serve on the Township School board as well as helping carry out the 4-H and other educational programs of the Bureau.
In 1944 he became connected with the State Soil Conservation Office and spent several years in that work.
He served on the board of the Osage Congregational Church
during his residence in that community.
