Born in Penjanillo, Mexico, on Feb. 20, 1908, Mrs Bernard had lived most of her life in St. Joseph.
A homemaker, she was a member of the St. Joseph's Cathedral.
Mrs. Bernard was preceded in death by her husband, Augustine Bernard; her parents, Ramon and Aurelia Suarez; brother, John Suarez; sister, Marian Herrara; daughter, Angela Beers; son, Nate Bernard; two stepsons, Sylvester and Austin Bernard; and four grandchildren, Raymond Bernanrd Jr., Michael A Bernard, Paul R Bernard and Sheriah Bernard.
Surviving: four sons, Alexander Bernard, Springfield, Mo., William and Raymond Bernard, both of St. Joseph; and Hector Bernard, Douglas, Wyo.; nine daughters, Margaret Potter, Clinton, Mo.,Rose Devinney, Oregon, Mo., Julia Barnes, Virginia Blythe, Paula Deets, Luisa Vasquez, and Nazaria "Sadie" Crail, all of St. Joseph; Honoracia "Lulu" Young, Liberty, Mo., and Susanna Bernard, Anaheim, Calif.; 65 grandchildren; 126 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial; 10 a.m. Friday, St. Joseph's Cathedral, St. Joseph. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph. Rosary: 7 p.m. Thursday, at the Cathedral. Arrangements: Rupp Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Memorials: Kendallwood Hospice.
