OBITUARY TAKEN FROM FAMILY BIBLE:
Funeral of William Prentice
The funeral of William Prentice whose remains were brought here from Colorado last evening for burial took place this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of his brother, Marshal C.T.K. Prentice on Indiana Street. There was a large attendance of the friends and acquaintances of the deceased, who had long lived here and was well known in the city, and there were many pretty floral emblems from friends. The services were brief at the house and were conducted by Rev. Dr. R. Cordley. The pallbearers were Col. H.L. Moore, Alex Mitchell, R.D. Mason, John Barber, William Wiedmann, and C. L. Pease. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Inscription

William Prentice is buried in Ayer, Prentice, Corbin Family Plot at right. The fence and stone disappeared in the 1920-1930's.

Gravesite Details

William Prentice was a descendant of 1620 Mayflower Pilgrims, John Howland, Elizabeth Tilley Howland, John Tilley and Joan Hurst Tilley thru his mother. William was never married and had no descendants. He was named after his father's brother.
