OBITUARY TAKEN FROM FAMILY BIBLE:
Death of Miss Celia A. Prentice.
The sudden death of Miss Celia A. Prentice at Ashland, Nebraska, on Sunday, October 2nd, has been received with such regret by the numerous friends of the family in Kansas. She had been suffering from heart disease for some time, but died very suddenly at last. Miss Prentice was the daughter of the late Thaddeus Prentice, the sister of C.T.K. Prentice, Mrs. Addie L. Corbin, and William H. Prentice, now in Denver, Colorado. Her mother is still living in this city. Her parents were among the earliest settlers in Kansas Territory. Her father bore a conspicuous part in the Kansas conflict. He was one of the foremost of the Free State men, full of generous qualities, and active and earnest of the exciting controversies of the early days. He enjoyed the friendship and confidence of all Free State settlers. Mrs. Prentice, the mother of the deceased, has lived to bury three members of her family, and she has the sympathy of our people in the sorrow that has now fallen so unexpectedly upon her.
