She was born August 18, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Thomas Foster Greenwood, Jr. and Uarda Gillespie Greenwood.
On June 18, 1964, she married Bruce Blaine Briggs in the Salt Lake Temple.
Elaine was a homebody and lived on the same block her entire life. She was proud of her career as a stay-at-home mom and found much joy and pleasure in her grandchildren. Elaine was kind and hospitable to all. She enjoyed and spent many years doing genealogy, crocheting baby blankets, and cooking.
She was actively involved with the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Elaine served faithfully in many callings as an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Bruce; and five children, Glenn (Tina) Briggs, Vicki (Brent) Nieman, Scott (Stace) Briggs, Valeri (Jeff) Gray, and Kimberly (Jason) Thompson; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; siblings, Ann (Carl) Andreason, Karen (George) Richins, Tom (Pat) Greenwood, and Gayle Bradford (Jack) Rhody. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Crawford; and brother-in-law, Scott Bradford.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the East Midvale Sixth Ward Chapel, 7250 South Halelani Drive (300 East). Friends and family may call for a viewing on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street, and on Monday at the Church from 9:45-10:45 a.m.
Interment: Murray City Cemetery, Murray, UT.
