Prior to her death Mary Elizabeth m. Levi Parsons Pixley, s. of Rev. Benton Pixley and Lucia Howell, b. at Harmony Mission circa 1822. Husband Levi cannot be located in the 1850 census, but in that same census for his in-laws, George and Mary Requa, is recorded a one-year old child named Ellen Pixley. She apparently is the same person called Mary E. Pixley, mistated as only one year old, who in the 1860 census was residing with the family of the widow Mary Requa (husb. George d. in 1856). In the 1870 census she, indexed and written as Mary E. Prilley, age 21, was residing in the household headed by then unmarried Cyrus J. Requa, the younger son of George and Mary Requa, which included Cyrus' widowed mother, Mary Harmon (Austin) Requa. In this census they were residing in Lone Oak Twsp. of Bates County, Pleasant Gap P.O.
On the above evidence, it is assumed that this was the child of Levi Parsons Pixley and Mary Elizabeth Requa, and George and Mary Requa's granddaughter. She likely is the Mary Ellen Pixley, recorded as Bixley, who m. Allen Wyman Thomas at Bates County, MO on Oct. 7, 1874, s. of William and Sophia Thomas of the same Lone Oak Twsp. of Bates County. They apparentely very soon moved to Kansas where they had a son Charles b. in 1875 or 1876. Unfortunately, Mary Ellen (Pixley) Thomas d. prior to the June 1880 census as her husband is shown as a widower in that census for Linn County, KS.
