Marsia* (see note) J. Rudd was born in Rockford, Illinois on Feb. 18, 1848. She was the daughter of Peter and Mary (Scoffield) Grimes, both born in Ireland.
She was the widow of Henry F. Rudd, who died the 22nd of April 1897. He was a civil war veteran, who served in Companies A and B of the 1st Regiment, Illinois Light Artillery. She received a widow's pension of $30 per month on certificate 460810.
On April 3, 1924, at the age of 75, she applied for admission to the Washington Veterans' Home at Retsil. She listed her children as follows: Nellie Edsen of Everett (54); Raymond H. Rudd of L.A. (44); Eugene H. Rudd of Seattle (40); Thomas H. Rudd of Seattle (38); and Jay H. Rudd of Clear Lake (34).
