OBITUARY
The citizens' of Unadilla were greatly shocked at the sudden death of Mary Caroline Balestier Mullane at her home in Unadilla. Friday morning, May 15th. She had been suffering for some time from a nervous breakdown, but the direct cause of her death was a tumor on the brain.
She was born in Unadilla in 1872 and had spent nearly her entire life there in Unadilla. Her passing away is deeply mourned by her immediate family and by hosts of friends and neighbors.
Only those who knew her best can testify to her many unselfish acts of kindness and charity.
She is survived by her aged mother, Fannie M. Balestier, sons; John Joseph Mullane of California and Robert Balestier Mullane of Unadilla; a daughter, Maud Mary Mullane of Unadilla, also two brothers, Robert Joseph Balestier of Unadilla and Henry Wolcott Balestier of California.
