Eileen Sweeney, 88, of Cherry Street, died at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at Columbus Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and was retired from housekeeping service.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Robert Muncie officiating. Calling will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Tuesday. Burial will be at Daugherty Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene.

Mrs. Sweeney was born Jan. 9, 1913, in Fortville, the daughter of William and Minnie Rash. She married Samuel W. Sweeney Aug. 14, 1932. He died Jan. 24, 2001.

Survivors include a son, David Sweeney of Columbus; six grandchildren and several great–grandchildren; and a foster sister, Betty West of Columbus.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Lou Martin; a sister, Angeline Davison; and a half brother, William Rash.
