Betty Lou Martin, age 66, of Shalimar, Fla., passed away early Thursday morning, March 30, 2000, at her residence with her family by her side.

Mrs. Martin was born on June 6, 1933, in Brown County, Ind., to Samuel Wesley and Eileen Rash Sweeney. She was a resident of Shalimar for the past 81/2 years, moving here from Indiana. Mrs. Martin, along with her husband, served numerous Methodist churches across Indiana. Mrs. Martin loved music. She played the piano, organ, was a choir director and many other duties that go along with being a preacher's wife.

She was president of the American Cancer Society in Sullivan County, Ind. She was also a member of Shalimar United Methodist Church; member of United Methodist Women; and, along with her husband, was a member of the Crandall Sunday school class. She enjoyed painting, watercolors, oils and china, and she loved to read.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband, Broten H. Martin of Shalimar; son, Charles W. Martin and wife Ginny of Greenfield, Ind.; daughter, Kathryn S. Eberly and husband Steve of Columbia, Md.; son, Randall L. Martin of Shalimar; daughter, Cynthia L. Povliches and husband John of Dallas; grandchildren, Bruce Eberly and wife Tonya of Franklinton, N.C., Andrew M. Martin and wife Sarah of Greenfield, Ind., and Scott E. Martin of Greenfield; great-grandchildren, Kirin B. Eberly of Franklinton, Erika White of Franklinton, and Emily M. Martin of Greenfield; and many other extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, April 3, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jerry Hollis and John Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Beal Memorial Cemetery.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 2.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 4 N.E. Jackson St., Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548, for research in memory of Mrs. Betty Lou Martin.
