Arthur E. "Gene" Sansoucy, 79, Ogdensburg and Ormond Beach, Fla., died Tuesday morning in Ormond Beach.
Mr. Sansoucy worked here for George H. Hyde Plumbing and Heating and was transferred to Watertown in 1961. In 1964, he went to work for Burns Bros. Plumbing and Heating, retiring in 1986.
Born April 10, 1924, in Ogdensburg, son of Arthur E. and Irene Clark Sansoucy , he graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1941 and earned a certificate in heating and plumbing from Canton Agricultural and Technical Institute.
He served in the Marine Air Corps during World War II, from Feb. 24, 1943, to Sept. 14, 1945.
He married Mary E. "Betty" Ramie on May 12, 1947, in Notre Dame Church with the Rev. Charles Richards officiating. She died Jan. 16, 1995.
He married Mary Bernier Ashley in 1996 at St. John's Church, Morristown.
Mr. Sansoucy was a member of the Ogdensburg Moose Lodge.
Surviving besides his wife, of Ormond Beach, are three daughters, three stepchildren, a brother, eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren, a step-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Regina Fisher and Germaine Sansoucy, and a great-grandson died before him.
A memorial Mass will be said 10 a.m. Wednesday at Notre Dame Church with the Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Entombment will be in Foxwood Memorial Park. A reception will follow at the Gran- View Restaurant.
