He was a son of Thelma Bellamy and George Washington Aimar.
George attended local schools, graduated from Bishop England High School and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve.
He was a past Commodore of the Charleston Yacht Club, the International Order of the Blue Gavel, the American Legion,Post 147, V.F.W. Post 445 and was a founding member of the S.C.S.S.A. His passion was offshore fishing and the Lowcountry outdoors.
Mr. Aimar was the former owner of 7 Star Liquors and formerly worked for Eckerd's Drug Stores for many years.
He was the widower of Eleanor Viele Aimar and is survived by his three sons, George W. Aimar III and wife, Cherie, Charles B. Aimar and wife, Maryane and Paul E. Aimar and wife, Candy; his grandchildren as well as three sisters, Pamela A. Ohlandt, Adrienne Aimar and Caroline Aimar McQueeney.
