Eliza A Switzer Downing was originally from Jefferson County, Iowa. Her parents were David and Sarah J Keltner Switzer. Eliza had several siblings who died very young and are buried in the Switzer Family cemetery in Jefferson County, Iowa.

The following obituary notice was found for Eliza:
"The Fairfield Ledger, June 10, 1891, p.3.col.1.
Eliza A., wife of J.M.Downing, at Linn, KS. Deceased was a daughter of Sarah J. Switzer of Buchanan township,this county, grew to womanhood and was married here. She had resided in KS 13 years. Mrs. Downing was in the 40th year of her age. She had been ill for several years with consumption. Leave four children of tender age."
Evidently, one of the young children of J.M and Eliza Downing was a Minnie Belle Downing. She died on April 21, 1879 at age 1y 3m 14d. Minnie Belle Downing is buried at the Switzer Family Cemetery in Jefferson County, Iowa near her grandparents and their Switzer family descendants.
