OBITUARY.
Chas. Thomas Murray
, aged 39 years, died last Thursday morning July 6th, at the State Hospital at Osowatomie (sic) after a lingering illness of undue suffering. Mr. Murray resided with his father and three sisters at 911 Dewey avenue, and had been a resident of Galena for 26 years, during which time this family has won a large number of friends, who in this sad hour regret the loss of such a noble citizen.

Mrs. W. H. Murray, mother of this son deceased, died last February at the family home in this city. She was a good kind, faithful, and loving mother, as well as a member of the Baptist church for 30 years, previous to her death. The son was laid to rest in the family lot at the Galena cemetery, beside the sleeping mother.

This family resided on West Seventh for eighteen years, afterward moving to the place where they now reside. He leaves to mourn his loss two sisters, and two brothers, John Murray of Quaker Valley, and Rose, Dessie, and Fred Murray who reside in this city, as well as a host of friends.

We see the cold and lifeless form,
As it lies in silent death;
The eyes are closed, the lips speak not,
As once in perfect health.
A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we loved is still,
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.
To battle life's rough way alone,
In sunshine or in rain;
Instead of pointing a finger of scorn,
To cause the heart new pain.
Our brother from us has gone,
To a land, we know not where.
Could not we shed a single tear,
Or offer a single prayer?
For the ones who are left with aching hearts
In this world of grief and woe,
Though his sins be as scarlet;
God can make them white as snow.
A Friend.
