Mr. Damon was born and raised in Mt. Vernon, one of a large pioneer family and he spent most of his life in the John Day valley. He was a machinist and blacksmith and for many years was chief mechanic for the old Empire Dredging company which was the first dredge to operate in this county. For the past 20 years he has made his home in John Day.
He is survived by his wife, Ada, a son Robert Damon of Mr. Vernon, and a daughter, Mrs. Fay Keerins of Portland: also two sisters, Mrs. Bert Green and Mrs. Ellen Stockdale, and one brother, John Damon, all of Mt. Vernon.
Funeral services were held. Thursday afternoon, for the Driskill Mortuary chapel in John Day, conducted by the Rev. James Moberg of Mr. Vernon. Interment was in the Canyon City cemetery.
