Clay Fairley Burton
Clay Fairley Burton, 61, died Saturday, July 10, 2004, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was a resident of Edinburgh.
He was born June 8, 1943, in Columbia, Ky. His parents were Wesley and Bert (Dile) Burton. He married Elizabeth "Libby" (Ajamy) Burton on Feb. 23, 1963. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Katrina Liffick of New Whiteland; three brothers, Clayton and Buford Burton, both of Edinburgh, and Lester Burton of Columbia, Ky.; four sisters, Exuria Goodin of Columbia, Ky., Fay Cowan of Trafalgar and Beulah St. Clair and Barbara Pendleton, both of Edinburgh; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Clay Burton; a brother, Van Burton; and two sisters, Mildred and Millie Burton.
He was employed at Reliance Electric in Columbus for 25 years, retiring in 1995.
He attended Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church. He was a member of Herndon Odd Fellows 95 in Edinburgh.
He volunteered for the Edinburgh Community High School athletic department for many years.
The Revs. Bill Noble and Mike Whited will conduct a service at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church, 1010 S. Main St. in Edinburgh. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the church and from noon until service time Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home of Edinburgh is handling arrangements.
