Mrs. Mary Anderson, 73, died Monday, February 4, 1946, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa of Coronary Heart Disease. Mary Elizabeth Jenkins was born March 1, 1872, at Long Point, Livingston County, Illinois, the first daughter of Phoebe Elizabeth (Hamlin) and Albanus Logan Jenkins.

She grew to womanhood at Long Point and attended Limerick School, her father having donated the section of his land to the county for the school. She attended Sunday school and church services there until a church was built nearby.

Mary's father was a Veteran of the Civil War. She was the second of nine children. Four siblings preceded her in death: Lydia in 1875, Charles in 1876, George in 1904 and John in 1943.

She was united in marriage to Samuel C. Anderson on March 2, 1890, in Livingston County, Illinois, just three months prior to the birth of her youngest sister, Nellie. Mary bore five sons and five daughters. One son, Lester, preceded her in death while he was an infant.

For seven years after their marriage, Samuel and Mary made their home in Livingston County, Illinois, then moved to Iowa. After coming to Iowa, Mary united with South Beaver Baptist Church. They lived the first five years near Grand Junction, and then moved to the Rippey community, where they lived until 1920. They then moved to a farm home northwest of Paton. Mary transferred her membership to the Paton Methodist Church where she remained an active and faithful member.

It was on the Paton farm that they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on March 2, 1940. Just a little over a year later, Samuel passed away on April 25, 1941. Mary carried on after having traveled the road of life together a little more than 51 years.

In February 1942, Mrs. Anderson moved into Paton, where she remained a member of the Methodist Church. Mary was living there when she became critically ill and was taken to the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge. Here she passed away at age 73 years, 11 months and 4 days of coronary heart disease.

She is going to be greatly missed in the home, the community and the church. She has always been interested in the welfare of the communities where she lived. She was a good neighbor, ready to lend a helping hand and active in her church life until the very last.

She leaves her nine children to mourn her passing:
