Daughter of Joseph Lee Robinson and Susan McCord

Father Joseph learned about the Gospel of Jesus Christ from his brother Ebenezer, and baptized him in August 1836.

He moved to Nauvoo, Illinois in August 1841 where he helped work on the Nauvoo Temple. He was also ordained a High Priest in 1843. He met and married Susan McCord in January 1846 in Nauvoo.

The Robinson's left Nauvoo in June 1846 to travel with other Saints leaving Nauvoo to go West, but would stop in Winter Quarters to get ready for the trip. When they arrived in Winter Quarters, from 1846-47 he was Bishop of Winter Quarters 7th Ward.

In November 1846 a little baby girl was born to them, Susan Aseneth Robinson.

From Joseph's journal, page 88, he says: "November 16, 1846. And it came to pass that in this city was born to us a daughter, a fine promising child by Susan, my second wife, our first polygamist child. We gave it the name of Susan Asenath. We loved her very much.”

But 3 months later, sadness came to the Robinson's home. Little 3- month-old Susan Aseneth passed away. She is buried in the Mormon Pioneer Cemetery in Winter Quarters, in Grave #101. According to the Winter Quarters Sexton Report she is listed as the reason she passed away, “unknown”.

The Robinson's left Winter Quarters and joined the Willard Richards Company in 1848 to come West to the Salt Lake Valley. ~ Written by Penny Hannum, DUP Red Mountain Chapter, Maricopa East Company

Joseph served as a state patriarch and justice of the peace. He also helped establish the towns Parowan and Fillmore. He had five wives. ~ Andrew Jenson, LDS Biographical Encyclopedia, vol. 3, p.220 (1951)
