Ernest L. Whiteman, 86, Topeka, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Whiteman operated a Grade A Dairy for many years, and he farmed and drove a truck for the DeKalb Seed Co. until he retired.
He was born October 11, 1914, in Topeka, the son of Fred L. and Myrtle I. Bills Whiteman. He was raised on a farm west of Topeka that became the home of the Sunflower Soccer Association soccer fields. He graduated from Seaman High School and was a lifelong Topeka resident.
Mr. Whiteman was a member of Kansas Avenue United Methodist Church, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 555 and the Shawnee County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include a brother, Dean Whiteman, Fort Collins, Colorado.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery. Mr. Whiteman will lie in state after noon today at the funeral home, where visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kansas Avenue United Methodist Church and sent in care of the funeral home.
