Following an illness of almost six years duration, Mrs. Thomas C. Dicus passed away at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 13, 1939, in her home in Anthon, aged 72 years, 1 month and 2 days. She took a sudden turn for the worse early Thursday morning, and the end came peacefully the following day. Death was caused by a complication of ailments.

The third child of William and Elizabeth Clark, Carrie M. Clark was born September 11, 1867, at Columbus, Ohio.

She came to Woodbury Co., Iowa, as a young girl and was married near Anthon March 4, 1886, to Thomas C. Dicus. The first twelve years of her married life were spent in the Danbury vicinity and in 1898 she moved to the town of Anthon, where the remainder of her life was spent. Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Dicus, and two sons and a daughter preceded their mother in death.

Survivors include her husband, two sons, Howard of Cedar Rapids and Cleland of Anthon; seven daughters, Eva Waugh, Madge Scott and Grace Fitzpatrick of Anthon, Effie Krasky of Storm Lake, Esther Spratt of Osage, Iowa, and Verna Coon and Mabel Lanegan of Sioux City, three brothers, Dewitt Clark of Hollandale, Minnesota, Herbert Clark of Reliance, South Dakota, and L.S. "Vant" Clark of Anthon, a sister, Nellie Foster of Correctionville, forty-seven grandchildren and thirty-one great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 15, in the Anthon Methodist Church with Rev. L.A. Hunsley officiating. Pallbearers were Cleland Dicus, Howard Dicus, Daniel Fitzpatrick, Jack Spratt, Arthur Coon and Keith Lanegan.
