For the Baptist Beacon:

Dear Brother Baker: On Wensday, (sic) the 24th of January, my youngest brother, Rev. D.P. Brooks, died with Lung Fever, near Huntsville, Columbia Co., Washington. After severe suffering for several days, he gave up all hope of recovery; said his work was done, and well done; was prepared and ready to go; called around him his companion and children to listen to a father's dying advice, and there realized the anguish of separation. He gave directions concerning his burial; and rejoiced in view of the bright prospects beyond the tomb.

Surely we can say, "Blessed the righteous, when he dies," We say farewell dear brother, until He, who is the resurrection and the life, shall raise the dead; then we hope to meet again in eternal union. We feel that the Lord is with us, that He is our strength, and our support, that He accompanies the preaching of His word.

Last Sabbath we felt that we were blessed in partaking of the broken body, and the blood of the blessed redeemer.
