A retired employee of Alba-Waldensian, Inc., he was a charter member and organizer of High Peak Baptist Church. He was a deacon, had served a number of years as Sunday School superintendent, and until his death wa assistant cashier for the church.

Rev. James Sessions and Rev. W.H Flowers officiated. Burial in the church cemetery.

At the time of death he was survived by his wife Mrs. Katie Causby Rector, of the home; three sons, Raeford Rector, Joe Rector, and David Rector, all of Route 2, Valdese; three daughters, Mrs. Paul Causby, Morganton, Mrs. Hillard McKee, Route 2, Valdese, Mrs. Darby Cooper, Mauldin, SC; 13 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren; two half-brothers, Joe Amos, Drexel, N.W. Amos, Route 2, Valdese.
