Veteran of the American Revolution. He was a private in Capt.Joseph Franklin's company, Col.Thomas Carpenter's regiment, and served for nine days at Rhode Island on the alarm of Dec 8,1776. He was also in Capt. James Hill's company, Col.John Daggett's regiment, and served at Bristol for three months from Dec 28,1776. He re-enlisted in Capt. Hill's company for one month from Sep 29,1777 and served at Tiverton,RI.

Later he was in Capt.Franklin's company, Col.Daggett's regiment from January to March 1778. He was in Capt.Cole's company, Col.John Jacobs' regiment from Jun 20,1778 to Jan 1,1779 and in Capt.Joseph Willmarth's company, Col.John Hathaway's regiment from Mar 16,1779 to Apr 12,1779 at Howland's Ferry. He enlisted again as a Sergeant in Capt.John Perry's company, Col.Abiel Mitchell's regiment on Jul 27,1780, and discharged Oct 30,1780 after 3 months, 5 days service at Rhode Island.

He married Esther Walker, intentions recorded on Apr 19,1760 at Rehoboth,MA.

Children: Nathan Armington, Susanna Armington Bowen, Nancy Armington, Asa Armington, Walker Armington, Benjamin Armington, Joseph Armington IV, Esther Armington Ide, George Armington, Sylvester Ambrose Armington, Gardner Armington, Hannah Barstow Armington, James Gardner Armington, and Daniel Armington.
